Who are we, and what is our club doing?
P.A.C.M. is short for Philadelphia Area Car Modelers.
The Philly Area Car Modelers is a "club within a club" formed by three
members of the Delaware Valley Scale Modelers in 1999. D.V.S.M is an I.P.M.S.
chapter that was founded in 1972. As a parent organization to P.A.C.M, D.V.S.M.
encompasses the full spectrum of scale modeling interests including Figure
building, Sci-Fi, Armor, Aircraft, Ships, and Car Modeling. P.A.C.M is an
offshoot that focuses solely on automotive subjects. All P.A.C.M. members are
members of the Parent club with no additional dues to be paid for P.A.C.M
membership. You can click here to enter the D.V.S.M web site Delaware
Valley Scale Modelers
Joining D.V.S.M involves building and displaying two
pieces of your work at two separate meetings. Upon showing for the second time,
the club membership votes on admittance for an individual. D.V.S.M. membership
is $20 for the first year with subsequent year membership being $15 per year.
The three founding members, Andy Such, Jamie Makin, and
Jim Durso held a belief that there had to be more than just three people in the
Greater Philadelphia area interested in building car models. With Jim Durso as
their leader, the three began actively recruiting new members. This membership
drive was accomplished through flyers placed in local hobby shops and Model Swap
meets. The movement gained momentum and P.A.C.M's membership currently stands at
approximately thirty members.
Another activity designed to further promote and
establish P.A.C.M. was the design and launch of its own website. This website
allows people all over the world to enjoy the work of P.A.C.M members as well as
an opportunity to contact members and exchange ideas. So please, take this
invitation to explore the website and by all means tell us what you think. Check
here for club meeting pictures here.
You can share your thoughts on the website or the club
itself by clicking here. If you are in
the area please pay us a visit. The club meets on the first Friday of the month
at 7:30 PM in the Artisan's Hall located at 8100 Roosevelt Boulevard,
Philadelphia, Pa. The club also has an additional meeting scheduled during the
year on the last Saturday of February at
Mainline Hobbies 2915 Hannah Ave. East Norritton, Pa. 19401, 1-610-527-1925
